Emotional Health

In holistic medicine, a balanced body, mind, and spirit are all essential to wellness. Sometimes, major stressors such as losing a loved one, losing a job, or changing residence bring challenging emotions to our awareness, and prompt us to reach out for support.  Modern day living, though, can foster a state of chronic stress, and because we become accustomed to tight muscles, grinding our teeth, or feeling impatient, we are often not aware that our health is declining.

There is ample scientific evidence that emotional and physical health are intertwined and impact one another.  Women, for example, may feel emotional during hormonal shifts such as the time before their periods or during peri-menopause or menopause.  Thyroid imbalances can create mood disturbances such as depression. Nutrient deficiencies can wreak havoc on our systems by creating symptoms such as fatigue, lethargy, and depression.

The physician’s role is to determine the cause of his/her patient’s emotional symptoms, and treat the patient accordingly.  As a survivor of traumatic experiences, Dr. Glass is comfortable working with people who are suffering. She knows that if we allow it, suffering can lead us to the healing that we long for.
